Marketing

My main attraction to learning about marketing, both in the traditional sense and digital, was to market and promote my published novels.

I wanted to give them the best chance of succeeding and I'm not one to dabble in something, I really started putting in the hours and research to become competant.

My Personal Experience

I used a range of marketing tools and techniques to help me with my campaigns.

I set up various channels as well as a personal website to direct traffic to as well as capturing real time data to measure my effectiveness, strengths and weaknesses.

Social Media

I set up and managed various social media channels in order to reach, engage with and promote to my audience. My following grew as I gained more followers and fans and it was encouraging to recieve positive feedback from cutomers, as well as offering pointers to new writers who stumbled acorss my pag

PPC

I hardnessed the ability to create and promote paid ads on the likes of Facebook, Instagram and Google Ads (to name a few).

I was able to track progress and data in order to customise and configure both live and future ads to maximise results and minimize expenditure.

Analytics

Setting up analytics to track data across various associated sites, including my own website, helped me gain a better understanding of my ideal customer and the demographics that responded the best to my ads, posts and other related activity and materials.

I used this data to not only adjust my PPC ads, but also the content I was sharing. I was able to see what kind of content was attracting the most attention and what content didnt perform as well as hoped.

Traditional Media

I had no connections to begin with when I started to consider traditional media as a way to promote my work. I created a press release, identifying what would attract local media to my story and then I began sending it out to targeted outlets, as well as networking on LinkedIn.

I managed to get on to two of the largest radio stations in the country as well as featuring in Belfast's largest newspaper.
